During the Washington Parish Council’s meeting on Monday night, Judy Fussell, wife of Councilman Mike Fussell, was presented with a “Certificate of Appreciation” for her work on the parish’s square that will become part of the Louisiana quilt. Designed and stitched by Judy Fussell, the square features images representative of the parish’s industries and landmarks and the Washington Parish Fair, while the back includes signatures of past and present parish politicians. The completed quilt will hang in the Louisiana Archives, and it will travel around to each parish for a month at a time. The Washington Parish government has requested to have it for the month of October, in hopes it will hang in the parish courthouse and then at the fairgrounds during fairtime.
