LSP's DWI checkpoint nets drug arrests

HAMMOND — Members of the Louisiana State Police — Troop L, in conjunction with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a DWI checkpoint starting Friday which resulted in a number of arrests.

The check point was conducted in Tangipahoa Parish West of Hammond on LA Highway 1040 at LA Highway 1249.

In total, 266 vehicles were screened which resulted in 10 DWI arrests and eight other charges which included the seizure of $2,667, approximately 70 lbs of marijuana, approximately one Kilo of cocaine and approximately five grams of crack for a total street value of nearly $60,000.

All arrested parties were booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite. The following is a synopsis of the arrests.

(2) Poss. Of Crack Cocaine - 5 grams

• Zatereill Bagent of Hammond (1) Poss. Of Crack Cocaine - 5 grams

• Johnie Delacerda (1) DWI - .136g%BAC

(2) Exp. Drivers License

• Machael D. Geralo Jr. (1) DWI - .126g% BAC

• Sylvia Rowland (1) DWI - Refused urine sample

(2) No Tail Light

• Eric Paherson (1) DWI - .13g% BAC

• Christopher Morris (1) DWI - .11g% BAC

(2) Open Container

• Jeffery Wagner (1) DWI - Refused

• Wayne Desouge (1) DWI - Refused

• Robby King (1) DWI - Refused; and

• Robert W. Louk (1) DWI 2nd Off. - Refused urine
