The Bogalusa Bass Club held their first tournament of the 2008 season on the Pearl River Saturday.
Due to the low water conditions, club members voted to launch at Poole's Bluff or Richardson's Landings to avoid the impassable log jamb.

Ricky Kennedy and Brandon Applewhite earned the second place finish by slowly dragging jigs through submerged cover in 6-8 feet of water. The team weighed in 9 pounds, 3 ounces with four fish, including a 4-pound, 3-ounce whopper caught by Applewhite.
Toby Cooper and Brandon Sheridan fished hard with jigs and spinner baits to catch five fish, weighing in 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
the three winning teams all launched at the Richardson boat landing, leaving those at Poole's Bluff to catching short fish and struggling to even get a bite.
Weather conditions were unfavorable for the twelve guys who fished.
The water and air temperature of the 9.6 feet and rising Pearl River never reached the upper 40's. Mixed with the light rain and 6-12 mph north winds, there was a perfect mixture for some great things, but bass fishing was not one of them.
