YMCA offers fitness throughout family food season BY MARCELLE HANEMANNThe Daily News The cool temperatures of autumn mean the family, “eating” holidays are drawing near. They also negate the excuse that it’s too hot to exercise at a time when it might be wise to step up the reps in preparation for the consumption of traditional dishes it would be rude to ignore. The Avenue B branch YMCA wants to help. Anybody who signs a six-month agreement for use of its fitness center, known as the bull pen, will pay only $120, or $20 a month. That’s $10 off the regular monthly fee of $30. The center has free-weights and weight equipment plus cardio-vascular equipment. Members get swipe cards, so they can enter and work out at their own convenience, day or night. And besides just helping themselves, everybody who joins the fitness center benefits the community by helping to fund programs like aerobics, art, basketball, boxing, dancing, after school tutoring, swimming and other activities for people of all ages.
