We salute ... Each Friday, The Daily News will recognize individuals and businesses in Washington Parish who have gone “above and beyond” in their efforts to make this a better place to live, work, play and raise a family. We believe that an integral part of a community’s wellbeing is an attitude and arena where people who do good things - who work to improve life for others - who try to make a difference - are recognized and saluted. Because this is a salute to members of the community of Washington Parish, we solicit your recommendations for groups or individuals to be considered for inclusion. This week we salute: • REV. PATRICK COLLUM, who said his first Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church last Saturday. Fr. Collum comes to Bogalusa from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in New Orleans, one of the churches shuttered by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. • BOWLING GREEN SCHOOL’S BUCCANEERS, who face Brookhaven tonight in the first round of the Mississippi Private School Association’s football playoffs. Despite losing their last two games, the Bucs made the playoffs by virtue of a wild card spot. • BEN’S FORD EAGLES Micah Simmons, Nathan McNabb, Brandon Mizell, Josh Rogers and Zack Miller on making first-team fooball all-district. Named as honorable ention all-district were Jared Holcomb, Jonathan Cooper and Devin Castleberry. |
