BHS seeking info for scholarships Bogalusa High School is seeking update information for anyone interested in presenting or awarding scholarships to seniors for the 2008-2009 school year. Senior Honors Night will be conducted on May 19 and graduation will be on May 21. Poplarville High sets cancer event The Poplarville High School is sponsoring a Poker Run and Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 18. All of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. The Poker Run will begin at 10 a.m. The other activities will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. The location is the Poplarville High School parking lot. There will be door prizes, cash prizes, fun jumpers, rock climbing wall, entertainment, and food. Girls invited to camp open house In making the decision about whether to send a child to camp, Girl Scouts Louisiana East encourages families to attend camp open house at either Girl Scout Camp Marydale in St. Francisville on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or Girl Scout Camp Whispering Pines in Independence on Sunday, April 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. Attending camp open house provides both parents and girls a great opportunity to ask any questions they might have about resident camp, tour the camp’s living units, meet some of the camp staff, and learn about the various camp session offerings. Resident camp is open to girls including non-Girl Scouts, ages 6-17, from June 7 to July 17 with sessions lasting three to 13 days and costing from $125 to $325. Thomas pre-k, kindergarten to register April 24 Thomas and Pine area pre-k and kindergarten registration for the 2009-2010 school year will be held at Thomas Elementary School on April 24, from 8 to 11 a.m. in the auditorium. For pre-k, a child must be 4 years-old before Sept. 30, 2009 to register. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2009. Children must be accompanied by a parent. FPS registration set April 6-8 Franklinton Primary School registration for pre-school (age 4) and kindergarten (age 5) will be held: • Monday, April 6 for last names beginning with A-L; • Tuesday, April 7 for M-R; • Wednesday, April 8 for S-Z. The child must attend with parent each day from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and present copies of birth certificate, Social Security card, shot record and proof of residence. Camp Fire plans 4 camp sessions Four sessions of Camp Fire camp at Camp Te Ca Towazi are set for summer, with registration now underway. Sessions are planned June 1-5 and 8-12 and July 6-10 and 13-17. Regular registration will be held through May 15 at $75 per week; $200 for three weeks and $275 for four weeks. During late registration May 16-29, $10 will be added to each week in June and no additional fees for July. All those that sign-up during camp will be assessed a total of $20 for the week over the regular rates.
