Amber Vampran Lousteau

Amber Vampran Lousteau, age 51, died of cancer on Wednesday, May 6 in Baton Rouge. She was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Bogalusa.

A kindergarten assistant at Trinity Episcopal Day School for the past 20 years, she will forever be remembered as “Miss Amber” to the hundreds of students whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Steve Lousteau, and children, Jeffrey and Jennifer Lousteau; her mother and stepfather, Patricia and Jack Barber of Amite; her mother-in-law, Beverly C. Lousteau of Norco; Her sister, Ethel (John) DePhillips of Hammond; her brother, John (Ira Lynn) Vampran of Bogalusa; six nieces: Amanda Bullock, Jonte DePhillips, Jeanne Marie Gisclair, Michelle Gisclair, Heather Phillips and Jessica Vampran; three nephews: Trey DePhillips, Jean Paul Gisclair and Trey Gisclair; one great niece, Caroline Lena Bullock.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ambrow Vampran; a sister, Lena Penton and her father-in-law, Etienne J. Lousteau.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baton Rouge from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., when a mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Father Paul Yi. Interment followed at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery in Baton Rouge. Services are under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home of Baton Rouge.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Lousteau, Trey DePhillips, John Vampran, Jean Paul Gisclair, John Murray and Mark Levert.

The family would like to say thanks to all their friends for their expressions of love and hop for Amber’s cure through greeting cards, emails, flowers, food and most importantly prayers. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and the nurses on the fifth floor oncology unit at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, 550 Lobell Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
