Bailey’s push caused ‘intractable’ pain, alleges Stogner

Bogalusa City Councilman Danny Stogner has filed a civil suit in district court against a city administrator, the city of Bogalusa and an insurance company.

According to court documents, Stogner said he was pushed by Jerry Bailey, the city’s finance director, at a city council meeting on Aug. 19, 2008.

During the meeting, Stogner was asking Bailey a number of questions and Bailey became angry, “lost his temper and pushed and shoved” the city councilman, according to Stogner’s petition filed Wednesday with the 22nd Judicial District Court in Franklinton.

“The pushing ... re-injured and exacerbated (Stogner’s) previously existing back condition and forced him to seek medical treatment for the immediately resulting intractable pain,” according to court documents. “Additionally, the unprovoked incident caused (Stogner) substantial humiliation and embarrassment.”

The petition goes on to state “Bailey was acting in the course and scope of his employment as an employee of The City of Bogalusa.”

The document alleges XYZ Insurance Company had a policy in effect “which afforded coverage for the incident.”

No set dollar amount was mentioned in Stogner’s petition, prepared by his attorney Richard W. Watts of Franklinton. However, Stogner is asking for “an amount deemed reasonable by this honorable court … with interest,” according to the petition.

Stogner and Bailey did not immediately return phone calls for this story.

    We do not seem to have any LEADERS in City Hall who really care about the issues that concerned citizens address at City Hall Meetings. We are talking "to the wind" .

    How sad! SOMEBODY, please step up to the plate and DO SOMETHING!.. Remember this at election time, folks... It's time for CHANGE IN CITY HALL! "

The DA didn't charge Mr. Sumrall when he punched another council member--That's wha he gets for chellenging the administration. He used to be one of the "good 'ol boys" but no more.
