Steven Chad Cooper, 42, a resident of Franklinton, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30 at University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center.

Born May 25, 1967, Chad loved spending time with family and friends at his camp on the Bogue Chitto River and was a devoted husband and father. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Freeman Cooper; one daughter, Jessica D. Cooper; one son, Steven Scott Cooper; his mother, Betty Thomas Cooper of Franklinton; his grandmother, Lois Thomas; his father- and mother-in-law, Gary and Gail Freeman; a brother-in-law, Randall (Renee’) Freeman; three nieces: Tyler Cooper, Caitlynn Freeman and Kelci Freeman; one nephew, Trevor Cooper; three aunts: Anita (David) Wood, Peggy (Herbert) McKenzie and Susan (Tom) Shedd. All are from Franklinton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Earl Cooper; a brother, Todd Cooper; his grandfather, Houston Thomas and grandparents, Houston “Scott” and Eva Cooper.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 1 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and continued on Thursday at Bible Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Harold Gaddy, Eld. Richard Magee, Eld. James Broome and Eld. Brent King officiating. Burial followed in the Thomas-Forest Haven cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ben McKenzie, Terri Pittman, Kevin Killingsworth, Darren Kennedy, Chris Foret, Gary Slade, Guy Hunt.

Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Carrol, Kevin Williams, Jay Williams, Lee Varnado, Scott Turnage, Greg Seal.
