Who is to blame?

Letter to the editor:

Our city’s problems are often blamed on the mayor, because he is our chief overseer. The blame has a legitimate direction. Our forefathers had left the city in good shape, yet we the citizens failed to require our current administration to carry the torch. We have allowed the torch to be reduced to a flicker. Our city should be highly valued to its citizens. What property owner leaves or wills his property to a child that will surely squander it? Why are we the citizens frustrated? The frustration is the reaction to the stagnated status that our current leaders place our city in. We are no longer a proud city. All the surrounding cities are growing as we continue to digress.

Another form of security we are suppose to have in advancing our city’s welfare is the city council. After observing the council for many years, it is clear that the city’s watchdog (city council) has been poisoned into ignorance, complacency, subordination. Our city council lacks the backbone necessary to withstand the corruption that plagues our city government. Anything suggested by the mayor, is OK’d without much research, analysis or foresight. Just how do we expect anything from our mayor when we have city council persons that have no clue about city government … and we are the ones that have elected such substandard authority. Just who is to blame for the mess that we are currently facing and its current mortgage that will affect us for years to come. We are the future forefathers.
