John I. “Wee” Magee

John I. “Wee” Magee, 76, died at 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, surrounded by his family.

A resident of Pine, he was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Chalmette. He was a devoted father and loving grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Merritt Magee of Pine; two: Darrell (Anita) Magee of Pine and Ronald Magee of Hackley; two daughters: Susan (Craig) West of Salt Lake City and Vickie Magee of Pine; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one brother: John E. “Big Boy” Magee of Franklinton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Lee Spears Magee; four brothers: Danny Magee, C.H. Magee, Joel Magee and Russell Magee; four sisters: Leona Passman, Darvis Brumfield, Agnes Gerald and Lula Phelps.

Visitation was held on Saturday at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., continuing on Sunday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Eld. Lerand Hunt, Eld. Jerry Blackwell and Eld. Richard Magee will officiate, with burial to follow in the Lawrence Creek Magee Cemetery.
