Bogalusa man shot in head, dies BY MARCELLE HANEMANNThe Daily News Bogalusa police officers who were responding to a report of shots fired in the 800 block of Columbia Street at 2 a.m. Sunday were diverted to the emergency room at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center where a man had been brought in with a gunshot wound to his head, said Captain Joe Culpepper. The victim, Tommy Clark Jr., 25, 914 Dan St., was later transferred to a hospital in New Orleans where he died. Nicholas Collins, 26, 1514 Warren St., was arrested and charged with second degree murder in the case. On Sunday, BPD investigators quickly determined that the old gas station on the corner of Columbia Street and North Avenue was the scene of the shooting, said Culpepper. “Several witnesses were interviewed, and that led to Collins’ arrest,” he said. “At this point we think it was just him.” Culpepper said Clark died of a single gunshot wound to the head, but he declined to say what caliber of gun was used since the investigation is ongoing. He also refused to address the matter of motive. “We’re trying to nail that now,” said Culpepper Tuesday. Collins did not confess to the shooting, he said.
