Bogalusa police officers who were responding to a report of shots fired in the 800 block of Columbia Street at 2 a.m. Sunday were diverted to the emergency room  at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center where a man had been brought in with a gunshot wound to his head, said Captain Joe Culpepper.

The victim, Tommy Clark Jr., 25, 914 Dan St., was later transferred to a hospital in New Orleans where he died.

Nicholas Collins, 26, 1514 Warren St., was arrested and charged with second degree murder in the case.

On Sunday, BPD investigators quickly determined that the old gas station on the corner of Columbia Street and North Avenue was the scene of the shooting, said Culpepper.

“Several witnesses were interviewed, and that led to Collins’ arrest,” he said. “At this point we think it was just him.”

Culpepper said Clark died of a single gunshot wound to the head, but he declined to say what caliber of gun was used since the investigation is ongoing. He also refused to address the matter of motive.

“We’re trying to nail that now,” said Culpepper Tuesday.

Collins did not confess to the shooting, he said.

We have to try to remember, that's one of the first things we are taught as children(communication). I will tell you this, it is the key. I remember what all the people in charge at the top said during Hurricane Katrina-lack of communication-and so many people died. I want to live for how ever long the Lord will allow.

    Peace out........ "

How about staying on da subject of da matter. Anyway, My hearts goes out to Tweety and their baby. Spanky will be missed. Don't worry who ever did this will be punish. God will see to that. The foolish need to stop, is it really worth destroying your life by taking another???? I really hope BPD do their job.. "

Comments without a name is one thing and I have no problem with that but the spelling and vocabulary of the people posting is just as sad as the shooting. "

" Noone is blaming BPD but they need to do their job and fully investigate this crime & look at the real evidence instead of going on rumers. The LSU medical center could have done better job.If da victim was already dead when arrive on scene, they should have called it.If he was breathing they should have not keep him nomore than 1hr.I have seen this kind of injury, he could have been airlifted &with a Doctor.I understand proctol but LSU are still made bad decision on injuries that are life & death situations. They should think about funding LSU wit betterequipmentandDoctors. " Oh come on now...why is it that BDP is being blamed for this? It happened outside not in. They are indeed responsible for conducting a thorough investigation. Quite a few of those that were standing around have questionable motives and their word is not to be taken for fact/evidence without proper due process. I agree with the sad state of the local medical facility. So often lives are loss due to the long commute to New Orleans. "

Then not only the BPD mess, the LSU medical center who is not suitable for trauma held the victim for 4hrs before being transported to proper hospital; in which he should have been airlifted due to his trauma. I know this crime is NOT a Drug related crime it is deeper than that. Not only should BPD be investigated they are NOT invesigated this crimewithpropermanner.Noonedesirestodie "

You gain nothing in exchange for killing someone but a lot of time to think about it in jail. So not only have you taking someone from their family you"ve also taken yourself away from yours. "

What ever happend to the old after school fights that we all walked away from? Situations such as these place fear in my heart for the lives of the young male family members of mine that are growing up in Bogalusa. "
