An 18-wheeler carrying a load of wood chips partially slipped off a lift used to unload the truck’s contents Friday at the Temple-Inland paper mill in Bogalusa.

The truck somehow slipped onto the back of the lift, or “dumper” as it’s called at the mill. No one was injured in the incident, and mill officials are investigating to find out how it happened, said Ellis Sampson, spokesperson for the mill.

The mill has three dumpers, which lift trucks hauling chips or bark to a certain angle, allowing their contents to be collected.

The accident occurred about 11 a.m., and by Friday afternoon two cranes were being used to remove the truck from the back of the dumper.

Sampson said he had never heard of a truck getting stuck in a dumper like that in his 20-plus years at the mill.
