Samuel Hershel Bell

Samuel Hershel Bell, 79, died at 7:37 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington.

A resident of Pine, he was a retired operator from Kaiser Aluminum and also worked as a clerk for Pine Hardware. He was a member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Caldwell Bell of Pine; three sons: Curtis (Sharon) Williams Bell and Dennis Bell, all of Bogalusa, and Philip Bell of Pine; four grandchildren: Kayla Christine Whaley, Amber Nicole Crain, Adam Chance Burch and Emanne’ Clemence’ Holland; one sister, Katie Lee Temples of Pine; one nephew and spouse: Roy Houston and Wynetta G. Temples of Pine; a great niece, Christie Nicole Bourgeouis and a great nephew, Randall Brent Temples.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Ruby Beatrice Garner Bell.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Crain Funeral Home, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday at Pine Missionary Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Eld. Brent King, Eld. Clyde Cooper and Eld. Ted Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Community Cemetery.
