Oliver S. "Buck" Day

Oliver S. "Buck" Day, 80, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 at Rest Haven Living Center in Bogalusa.

A resident of Bogalusa, he was a member of Westside Emmanual Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United State Army and served during the Korean War. He was a Mason for over 50 years and was past president of Recovery Local #189, past president of Zellco Federal Credit Union and a retired machinist from Crown-Zellerbach.

He is survived by, his wife, Delorese B. Day of Bogalusa; his daughter, Susan Day Harwood of Mandeville; his son, C. A. "Bucky" Day of Crossroads, Miss.; two grandchildren, Jason Carroll Smith and James Dustin Smith and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol Dean Day and Grace Poole Day, and a sister, Sylvia Broadwater.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Floyd Davis and Deacon Butch Shartle officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
