H1N1, West Nile, murder, tragedy

H1N1, West Nile virus, car crashes and even senseless violence. They are all part of our world, and exist even in our parish.

It seems sometimes that if one thing won’t get you, something else will. And unfortunately, Washington Parish is not immune to any of it. While it might seem that we’re a world away from the more severe problems that afflict much of the planet, we’re really not.

The local news this week is all of those things mentioned in the first sentence: Swine flu, West Nile, a tragic car crash and murder in Franklinton.

We may not be able to prevent all of it, but we can deal with it the best we can. Police have already solved the murder, and everyone can take steps to avoid infection of the viruses.

We send our condolences to the families of recent car-crash victims, and pray the tragedies are not repeated.
