Jack DeWitt Edwards

Jack DeWitt Edwards, 86, a resident of Franklinton, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

Born July 20, 1923, he was a retired tool pusher with Shell Oil Company and a U. S. Air Force Veteran of WWII, where he served in the 432 Ordinance Division. He was a member of Clifton Baptist Church.

He is survived by a brother, Richard Edwards of Easley, S.C.; a sister, Mary Triche of LaPlace and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Breaux Edwards; three brothers, John A. Edwards, Claude E. Edwards and Pat Edwards; and two sisters, Sarah Layus and Bea Morrison.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15 at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Tony Hicks officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Larose.

In lieu of flowers family prefers donations to American Cancer Society.
