Magee collapsed Monday when the verdict was read.
The same jury Saturday convicted the 32-year-old Magee of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his 28-year-old wife, Adrienne, and their 5-year-old son, Zach, on April 18, 2007, in the Tall Timbers subdivision north of Mandeville.

Adrienne Magee had been a Bogalusa resident for most of her life, living here with her grandparents, and attending Annunciation Catholic School as an elementary student. She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church as well as Cornerstone Baptist Church, a relative said.
"She was a very good and caring person. No one ever had any trouble with her as a teenager or anything. All she wanted to do was be a good mother to those babies," said a relative of hers said not long after the murders.
James Magee also lived in Washington Parish and was reportedly from the Mt. Pleasant area, police said.
According to Bogalusa police, Magee had a relatively clean record during his time in Washington Parish, with only a few misdemeanors about 12 years ago and an open container violation in 2000.
"There was no history of violent or domestic crimes on record. Nothing to warn of something like this," said Bogalusa police said shortly after the murders.
Assistant District Attorney Scott Gardner, who spearheaded the prosecution, said the verdict "gives voice to the victims."
