Hubert Jenkins

Hubert Jenkins, 90, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at Pontchartrain Health Care Center in Mandeville. A native of Enon and long-time resident of Sun, he was amember and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Sun for many years. He served in the U.S. Army 5th Division during World War II. He worked in the construction business as an equipment operator. He was a devoted husband, loving father and a dear friend to those who knew him.

He is survived by three daughters: Barbara (Wayne) Thompson of Bush, Judy (Greg) Flynn of Houston and Patricia Ann (Bobby) Williams of Harrison, Ark.; one brother, Ellis (Faye) Jenkins of Bogalusa; two sisters: Hazel (Roger) Gregoire of Baton Rouge and Oda Lee Wheat of Angie; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Sharp Jenkins; his parents, Preston C. and Gabe Jenkins; a daughter, Rita Jane Landry and a brother Buddy Jenkins.

Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 31 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continued on Sunday from noon until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Bobby Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Sun, with military honors from American Legion Post 24 of Bogalusa.
