The Bogalusa YWCA is expected to be bustling with healthy activity Friday when LSU Bogalusa Medical Center and the Bogalusa City School System sponsor the fifth annual Bee Fit Health Fair free to the public.

Sixty different vendors are lined up to provide health screenings that include such things as cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, body fat, heart attack risk and skin cancer checks. Representatives of the Louisiana Department of Insurance will even be on  hand to tackle insurance-related questions and to provide information on the Office of Consumer Advocacy.

Because November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, the special focus of the fair this year will be diabetes, said Lynn Wells, LSU BMC. There will be diabetes related products and samples, and three diabetes educators will be on-site to provide information and to answer questions, she said.
