James Gibson

James Gibson, 68, was born May 6, 1941 and departed this life at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Gennetter Wolfe Gibson; three daughters: Karen Gibson and Carolina (Gary) Jefferson, both of Bogalusa, and Jacqueline Holloway of Collins, Miss.; one goddaughter, Briaunna “Ruby” Stalling; a special niece, Brenda (Dudley Jr.) Stallings; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Sampson and Mrs. Audrey Sartin, both of Bogalusa; three brothers: Jessie Gibson of Bogalusa, Willie Gibson of Toledo, Ohio and Theodore (Juann) of Columbia, Ohio; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Gibson of Van Nuys, Calif. and Nina Mae Booth of Collins; grandchildren Odelia, Kevin and Jordan Simmons, Miracle Jefferson, John Holloway, Reshena Holloway, Peggy (Jeffery) Johnson, Paula (Earl) Flowers, Barbara (Freddie) McNair, Ricky (Tiffany) Wolfe, Lupe (Mark) Chatman, Preston (Theresa) Lockhart Jr., Aretha (Grady) Berry; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Will Gibson; three brothers: John Gibson, Eddie Lee Gibson and Charlie Gibson; his godfather, Deacon Willie Matthews; one daughter, Barbara Lockhart and one grandchild, Lee Dale Gibson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a family period from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be on Saturday at New Triumph Baptist Church at 1 p.m., with Rev. E. L. Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Bogalusa Cemetery.
