It’s the time of year when people long for homemade treats to celebrate the holidays in savory style.

Now, just in time for Thanksgiving feasts, the Daily News will hold a bake sale outside Main Street Grocery and Wal-Mart Saturday morning starting at 8 a.m.

Committee Chair Molly Magee said she expects to offer brownies, cakes, fudge, cupcakes, pies, cookies and maybe even some fresh bread. And who knows what else someone might get an urge to whip up and offer for the cause.

The sale will last until approximately noon, depending on how long the goods last, said Magee.

Additionally, the Daily News will give a copy of its popular annual cookbook to everyone who makes a purchase.

Care and Share is a decades old program that provides food for local needy residents before Christmas. This year’s goal is to provide $75 food vouchers for 75 families.

Donations are also being accepted. For additional information, call the Daily News at 732-2565.
