Last weekend, Franklinton police arrested a man for attempted murder after shots rang out in a neighborhood called the Cotton Field — the same neighborhood that was the site of a violent gunfight between members of the Black Rag Gang and the Iced Out Gang on March 23, 2008, which was Easter Sunday. During that incident, two people, including a 13-year-old boy, died and three others were seriously injured from gunshots.
No one was injured in the latest incident, which occurred Saturday night on the 2300 block of Williams Street, but Rashied Washington, a known member of Iced Out was shot at, police said.

This past Saturday, Washington told police he had been shot at while attempting to get in his vehicle to leave his residence, according to press release from the Franklinton Police Department.
Police identified the alleged shooter as Calvin Brock, and arrested him for attempted first degree murder. Brock is a member of the Black Rag Gang, police said.
“Washington advised officers he and Brock were involved in a verbal and fistic altercation which culminated into the attempted murder,” according to the FPD release.
While Bright and Washington were arrested on attempted murder charges for the Easter shootout, police have yet to charge anyone with the two murders.
“The Franklinton Police Department is committed to the elimination of street gangs in the town of Franklinton,” according to the FPD release. “Investigators have worked tirelessly with the Louisiana State Police, Drug Enforcement Agency along with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to continue to make Franklinton a safe place to live.”
Police Chief Donald Folse condemned the latest display of violence and warned further action by either gang would not go unpunished.
“Our officers are actively seeking out gang members committing crimes and we will not tolerate the type of lawless behavior exhibited by these individuals,” he said.

... I have stopped attending the City Council Meetings because it is like a "three ring circus". ... a waste of my time. In my opinion, there is not ONE honest politician in the present city administration! They hold SECRET meetings BEFORE the OPEN FORUM, ... (decisions already made behind closed doors), then put on a "show" for the few citizens who bother to show up for these City Council Meetings ... Bogalusa gets what they vote for ... corruption in City Hall!
... This is seriously holding Bogalusa BACK. Please vote to OUST this ENTIRE ADMINISTRATION come next election!
... New Orleans, Mandeville, Bogalusa, etc. these dishonest POLITICIANS are a disgrace to our intelligence... or, maybe we DESERVE what we get. We VOTE THEM INTO OFFICE!.
... I am concerned about Bogalusa because this is my home. City Hall and the "CLOWNS" in this administration needs a complete CHANGE! ... Just as diapers need to be changed, and for the same reasons.... THEY STINK!
... when candidates ASK for your vote, YOU SHOULD ASK QUESTIONS OF THEM! ... such as,
... "What are YOU going to do to move Bogalusa into the twenty-first century/"...
... "What are YOU going to do to help SOLVE issues such as our POOR SCHOOL SYSTEM, DRUG PROBLEM, BLIGHT, POVERTY, etc.
... "Mr. Candidate, what are YOU going to do to IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR OUR CITIZENS?" ...
... Ed suggests we need HONEST LEADERS WHO CARE ENOUGH TO "WORK" FOR A BETTER BOGALUSA! ... NOT DISHONEST "POLITICIANS". It appears that progress has STALLED since this present administration took office! We need:
... LEADERS who vow to be part of the SOLUTION...
... Godly people who are determined to THINK and LEAD Bogalusa FORWARD! ... and who are HONEST! Bogalusa cannot afford ten more years of "do nothings" ... and corruption!
... We have here in "The Magic City" much TALENT that can move Bogalusa FORWARD! ... It is up to the VOTERS to ASK QUESTIONS... WEIGH THEIR ANSWERS
... AND THEN VOTE FOR QUALITY LEADERS!
... last but not least, we must PRAY for people to WANT to step up and help move Bogalusa FORWARD!
... GO BOGALUSA!
... It's All About JESUS!
