Demon golf claims first place at Money Hill

Franklinton’s boys’ golf team earned the top spot in this week’s North Shore Golf League action at Money Hill in Abita Springs by shooting a combined 180 over nine holes.

The Demons’ score was 14 strokes better than second-place Pope John Paul II, which claimed the top spot a week earlier.

Individually, Franklinton claimed three of the top four scores overall. Trent Seabrook finished in a first-place tie with a score of 43, Laden Jenkins finished in third place with 44 and Karlton Ginn earned fourth place by shooting a 45.

Zack Cotton rounded out the four-man score with a 48, good enough for seventh place out of 20 competitors.

Josh Vaughn finished with a 56.

In girls’ action, the Lady Demons finished with a two-player score of 140, which placed them in fourth place. Sarah Hodges scored 68 and Shelby Winstead shot a 72.

Bogalusa New Tech High student presentations

Bogalusa New Tech High students gave presentations on modern-day and historic slavery to the Bogalusa School Board recently. A similar presentation was given to Louisiana Superintendent of Schools Paul Pasterok on Feb. 11, 2010.
