Hymel announces candidacy for city school board

Calvin Hymel announces his candidacy for Bogalusa City School Board District 6.

Hymel was raised in Bogalusa and raised his children in Bogalusa.

The Mississippi State University graduate recently retired after 34 years as a teacher/coach in the Bogalusa City School system.

He coached football for 28 years, the last 17 as head coach. He also coached the first girl’s softball team at Bogalusa High School for 20 years.

Hymel has been a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association for more than 30 years and is now a lifetime member.

He owns and operates both Hymel Rental business and the Bogalusa Driving School.

Hymel said he has proven he is capable, that he works well with and cares about the needs of others, and that he’ll do what it takes to get the job done.

The lifelong resident said he understands the needs of the local school system and realizes that a good school system can increase the success of Bogalusa business.

“I would like to work with the school board members and teachers to make Bogalusa City Schools a place to get a good education,” Hymel said. “My goal is to help improve the quality of life of our youth, and to make our city a proud place to raise a family and to retire.”

    " just what the bogalusa school board needs. calvin was a great coach and even a better person! come on bogalusa its time to vote this man in if you want to change the school system.... "
