Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!
There is so much to love about St. Patrick’s Day. Remember all the pinches you’d get in school if you weren’t “wearin’ the green”? And one of the best things are the wonderful parades held all over the country, and one that’s especially fun in this area is the Irish Channel Parade held in New Orleans on the Saturday before March 17. This year it’s March 13 and it begins at 1 p.m. at the corner of Felicity and Magazine Streets in the heart of the Irish Channel. Floats and truck floats (those on flatbed trailors created by the riders themselves) respond to the call, “Throw me something, Mister!” Historically, the parade’s most famous throws, are cabbages, carrots, onions...and moonpies! (You may even see a potato or two in the air!) All in all, it’s a fun afternoon watching a parade that’s part Mardi Gras, part Irish stew.

Liven Up the Lenten Season
Christians the world over are observing Lent, a 40-day period of prayer, penitence and self-denial before Easter. Rules are different from one religion to another, but most require fasting on somes days, abstinence, including meatless meals on Fridays amd other acts of penance.

Get Energized!
It can be tough to maintain healthy eating habits and a hectic schedule. But one little ingredient can add great flavor and keep you energized for the busy day ahead.
