Bogalusa Police Chief Joe Culpepper said Tuesday the investigation into the beating death of Darrell E. McLemore at his W. 10th Street residence last Thursday is still ongoing, and detectives urge anyone with information to make contact in order to bring the killer to justice.
“We need the public’s help on this one,” he said. “We collected DNA samples and everything possible, and they’re being processed. But we need anyone who has information to call us or Crime Stoppers.”
Callers may remain anonymous, and Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest, Culpepper said.
According to reports, a bleeding McLemore, 67, knocked on the door of a tenant’s apartment on his property, seeking help, and then collapsed.
He was transported, unconscious, to LSU Bogalusa Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Culpepper said McLemore was beaten about his upper body.
