Michael Marion Magee, 58, beloved son of Evelyn S. Magee and Leeke L. Magee, was born Aug. 5, 1952, and died at 9:27 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at his residence. Although struck down by rheumatic fever at age 6 which led to a lifetime of health problems, Michael persevered to be a good son, father, husband, and provider. Michael was loved by his family and will be missed by all.
Stephanie L. Martin, 33, of 29413 Military Road in Angie, departed this life on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at the LSU HSC Bogalusa Medical Center.
Dorothy Lynell Rushing, 88, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at the LSU Bogalusa Medical Center. She was a member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Frances Aline Knight Smith, 87, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at her residence in Franklinton. Born April 10, 1923, she was retired secretary for the Washington Parish School Board with many years of service. She was secretary for the Washington Baptist Association, the American Legion Auxillary and the Ellis Cemetery Association. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a greeter for many years, and was also a member of Noble Queen Chapter of Order of Eastern Star.
Leroy “Smitty” Smith, a resident of Franklinton, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010. He was born March 25, 1925 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Gladys Phipps Ventress, a resident of Franklinton, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center.
Guy Leslie Blouin, 33, a resident of Madisonville, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at 12 p.m. at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. Born April 5, 1977, he was a 1997 graduate of Franklinton High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton, where he was baptized. He was a machinist with Northlake Precision. He enjoyed the outdoors, shooting pool and loved spending time with his children, family and friends.
Billy Ray Breland, 74, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 in Abita Springs. He was a resident of Bogalusa, born Dec. 7, 1935.
Jimmy Gay, 58, died early Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at his home in Kentwood. Born April 5, 1952, he was a long-time truck driver for R. J. Booty Construction.
William Floyd Leslie Sr., 67, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010. He was a Bogalusa native and a resident of North Pole, Alaska.
Ferne Fornea Martin, 83, a resident of Hammond, was born March 10, 1927 in Varnado, and passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 at Landmark Nursing Home in Hammond.
Rachel Oneita Wallace Mizell, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at her son’s residence in Loranger, surrounded by her loving family.
Albert Wayne Rowell, 33, a resident of Pine, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. He loved running rabbit dogs, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.
Richard Lee Duncan, a resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010. Born April 24, 1937, he was a veteran who served in the U. S. Air Force, worked for NASA and was also a deep-sea diver. Richard was a Freemason, a member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge, and Washington Shrine Club.
Nelda Miller, age 82, went to be with Jesus Aug. 27, 2010. She was born on Dec. 20, 1927 and was a life long resident of Mount Hermon.
Flora Laney, age 62, a resident of Bogalusa, died Aug. 18, 2010 at her residence following a long battle with diabetes.
George Glynn Passman, age 79, passed away on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010 at his home in Bogalusa, LA. Born Aug. 28, 1930, he joined the U. S. Navy at age 17 serving his country during the Korean War.
Ethel Nancy Slade, born on Aug. 24, 1917, died on Aug. 22, 2010 at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, LA, at the age of 92. She was a resident of Crossroads, MS, a longtime employee of Rosenblum’s in Bogalusa and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Crossroads.
Charles Robert Purvis Sr., 91, died Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.
